Better Strategies....

Fork: Using one piece and to attack 2 of the opponent's pieces. In this situation, you normally would get one of the opponent pieces. In the picture, the white knight is forking the black king and rook.



Pin: Forcing opponent's piece to stay because moving it will cause more damage. In the picture the black knight is pinned to the black king by the white bishop.


Skewer: Make the more valued piece move, and capture the less valued at the back. In the picture, white Bishop is Skewering the Black King and Queen. The King must move out of check and the White Bishop captures the Black Queen!
